With Tax Day around the corner, SBCS is proud to be part of a powerful collaboration making free tax preparation services available to families across San Diego County. Through a $130,000 grant from the San Diego Foundation, six local organizations are working together to ensure low-income households can access the refunds and credits they deserve.

Kathie Lembo, President & CEO of SBCS, and Pam Gray Payton, VP at the San Diego Foundation, recently sat down with CBS 8 to talk about this partnership and its impact. It’s about more than just filing taxes—it’s about putting money back into the pockets of families and strengthening the communities we serve.

Last year, SBCS helped over 2,000 families secure more than $1.8 million in tax refunds. Every return completed is a step toward financial stability and community empowerment.
