As we look forward to our 50th year of initiatives to support the well-being and prosperity of San Diego children, youth and families, we are excited to announce today the transition of our name from South Bay Community Services to simply, SBCS.

With services and supports that have expanded over the years to extend well-beyond South Bay communities, SBCS is a nod to both our long history of commitment to the area, as well as our team’s focus on strengths-based community services throughout San Diego.

In partnership with donors and friends around the county, SBCS is building upon the strengths inherent to the cities and neighborhoods around the county that we partner to serve with services and supports that include:

  • Promise Neighborhood initiatives, designed in partnership with local residents and leaders to prioritize education and reduce child poverty, have supported children from cradle to career and beyond.
  • Mi Escuelita Therapeutic Preschool has helped hundreds of young children exposed to domestic violence heal and begin along the right path for success in kindergarten and beyond.
  • Family Violence Support Services, including 24/7 emergency response and trauma-informed care have helped thousands of survivors access safety planning, counseling, emergency housing, legal services and other resources.
  • Youth Prevention and Intervention services have addressed the barriers facing at-risk youth, and helped keep them in school and out of the juvenile justice system.

In the years to come, SBCS looks forward to continued collaboration with fellow residents of our region’s vibrant communities to help all San Diegans reach their full potential.

You’ll notice our website, social media channels (Facebook, Instagram, Twitter) and materials have shifted to reflect our new agency name, logo, brand and “Strengthening Communities” tagline. We hope you join in the excitement of stepping into SBCS’ next half-century of leadership with an expanded vision of who and how we serve.
