SBCS has received a $20,000 donation for its new rental and utility assistance program that will assist Chula Vista residents who have been impacted by the pandemic from the National Electrical Contractors Association (NECA) San Diego chapter.
The generous donation was coordinated by Chula Vista Mayor Mary Salas who has worked alongside both organizations and comes just a week before SBCS will begin accepting applications for assistance from the program.
“I’ve worked with NECA for many years and I know how passionately they advocate for their members. It’s wonderful to see them step-up on behalf of their neighbors as well,” said Mayor Salas. “NECA’s $20,000 donation to the SBCS rental assistance program is a wonderful demonstration of community spirit.”
After learning about the need for rental, utility, and housing assistance for those impacted by COVID-19, NECA members and their leadership delivered a $20,000 check to the organization.
“During the toughest of times, NECA contractors have always been known to step-up and help their community, even as they work to build the essential infrastructure that is so important to our daily lives,” said NECA Board President Robert Friar. “Our members are concerned about the residents who are suffering during the pandemic and are pleased to support this joint initiative between SBCS and the City of Chula Vista that will provide critical support to those struggling the most.”
“The pandemic and resulting economic realities have created a huge need for rental assistance and we’re very grateful for NECA’s generous gift to this program,” said SBCS President and CEO Kathie Lembo. “Their support will help fill the gap and lift a huge weight off of the shoulders of those who are having trouble making ends meet and receive the help they need.”
