Volunteer Opportunities

INDIVIDUAL: 

These opportunities are great for both students and community volunteers. Whether once a year or an hour a week, we welcome your time and energy to help us build hope and change lives. Here are some ways you can help:

Please note that some positions with direct client involvement will require volunteers to complete a minimum of 40 total hours of volunteer work, attend a volunteer orientation and complete the volunteer clearance process (which includes: a Drug Test, Background Check, and TB Test).

GROUP: Corporate, Community and Faith Based Organizations

Volunteering at SBCS is a great way for groups to have fun together and provide valuable community service. We can help you find the best activity for your group or even help you create one especially for you! Here are some ideas:

  • Help beautify our sites
  • Hold a Food Drive
  • Host a workshop
  • Organize a special event
  • “Adopt a Family” during the holidays

YOUTH: Students, Boy and Girl Scout Troops, School Groups and Youth Groups

We welcome youth who care about where they live and are willing to make a commitment to improve their community. There are many ways youth can help on an individual basis or with a group. Here are some ideas:

  • Help beautify our sites
  • Help with childcare
  • Food distribution / donation sorting
  • Office assistant
  • Beautify our sites and community
  • “Adopt a Family” during the holidays
  • Create your own project

Please note that some positions with direct client involvement will require volunteers to attend a volunteer orientation and complete the volunteer clearance process (which includes: a Drug Test, Background Check, and TB Test). Volunteers completing the clearance process must be at least 16 years of age and be able to commit to a minimum of 40 hours of total volunteer work with SBCS.

COURT MANDATED YOUTH: 

SBCS accepts youth under the age of 18 (18-year-olds still in high school may still apply) that need to complete court-mandated volunteer hours. Unfortunately, due to the nature of our programs, we do not accept adults requiring court-mandated hours.

Activities for youth court-mandated volunteers are limited to:

  • Food Distribution
  • Mailings and occasional Office Assistance
  • Special events
  • Site Beautification
