SBCS (formerly South Bay Community Services) depends on the support of its community to provide our services. Get involved today. There are a number of ways you can support our organization – read below to find what method fits your goals. If you’re unsure, Donate Now and we’ll make sure your contribution serves the greatest need.
Financial Contributions
Financial contributions are the lifeblood of SBCS. Unrestricted cash donations allow us to funnel resources where the need and results are greatest. This also gives us the flexibility to quickly compensate for unforeseen circumstances, such as a natural disaster, emergency services, or sudden shortage of food or housing for those we serve.
We take stewardship of our contributions seriously. Every dollar you donate is tracked closely to ensure it yields results. To learn more about our data-driven metrics and reporting, visit our Facts page.
As a registered 501(c)3 organization, many donations are tax deductible. Talk to your accountant or a tax expert for more details.
Volunteering
Volunteers of all ages help SBCS expand and enhance programs and services for families in need.
Becoming a volunteer is also personally and professionally rewarding. Not only will you create a lasting impact in the lives of others, but you will acquire valuable work experience and network with many people in your community. We will help you find the best program or activity to match your skills, talents, wishes and time availability. Individual, group and youth volunteers are welcome.
Gifts in Kind
In-kind gifts are incredibly helpful to our children, youth and families. Donation drives for gifts of this nature make great group and/or youth service projects.
Please visit our Gifts in Kind page below to learn more about how to organize a donation drive, to see a full list of our most frequently needed items, and to learn how to connect with our team to drop off your donation.
Amazon Smile
AmazonSmile is a program that allows you to support SBCS at no cost to you when you shop on Amazon.
Simply sign into your Amazon account here to designate SBCS as your favorite charitable organization, and 0.5% of all eligible purchases made on Amazon will be donated to SBCS to support vital services for San Diego children, youth and families.
Remember to always “Start with a Smile” by starting each and every Amazon shopping trip using our AmazonSmile link or by clicking the AmazonSmile logo at the bottom of each page.
Training & Certification
Help end the cycle of violence by supporting victims and help them develop the skills they need to leave an abusive relationship and live a safe and self-sufficient life. SBCS’s 40-hour training provides graduates with a Certificate of Completion that will enable them to pursue volunteer and employment opportunities working directly with survivors of domestic violence in California.
Visit our Training & Certification page to learn more. Courses are typically offered once a year in the fall.
Special Events
Throughout the year, SBCS organizes events to bring together our neighbors and supporters. We also look forward to introducing ourselves to new friends: explain the work we do, why it is important, and what our fellow San Diegans can do to help – all while having fun and enjoying each other’s great company.
Visit our Special Events page for more information on our upcoming events and how you can register to join us. We hope to see you there!
