The family violence support services that our community entrusts SBCS to provide are key priorities in our response to the COVID-19 pandemic. The increased stress, loss of income and isolation that many are experiencing during this time make access to emergency, shelter and counseling services more important than ever. We are currently responding to an increase in need for family violence support services and assure those who may be in an unsafe domestic violence situation at this time that our 24/7 hotline and doors remain open to help them.
If you or someone you know is experiencing domestic violence and need immediate help, please call 9-1-1 or local law enforcement.
Though some modifications have been made to reduce in-person contact, including utilizing phone and video conferencing solutions when effective, the following services remain available:
- 24/7 hotline at (800) 640-2933 where you can connect with an advocate and walk through safety plans
- Domestic Violence Response Team, which works with police to respond 24/7 to domestic violence-related calls in Chula Vista, National City, Imperial Beach and Southern San Diego and provides support with crisis intervention, counseling, safety planning and relocation
- Individual and group counseling sessions
- Assistance with filing restraining orders
- Emergency shelter
For support, please call us at (619) 420-3620.
Everyone deserves a relationship that is positive, healthy and free from violence. The equality wheel includes some of the characteristics of a healthy relationship. If you feel that your relationship might be unhealthy or abusive, please call the National Domestic Violence Hotline at (800) 799-7233.
Please check back to our website, Facebook, Twitter and Instagram regularly and subscribe to our email updates for news on specific programs, and services as well as efforts to support the needs of the wider community as we monitor the COVID-19 pandemic and its impacts.
Donate to help SBCS continue to meet the essential needs of the communities we serve at this unprecedented time.
