COVID-19 Emergency Rental Assistance Program (ERAP)

Updates: The City of Chula Vista’s COVID-19 Emergency Rental Assistance Program (ERAP) has concluded after 18 months of helping low income Chula Vista renters who experienced a financial hardship due to or during the COVID-19 pandemic.  SBCS, the administrator of the program, has disbursed all remaining funds to qualifying households.   If you are a tenant, landlord, or San Diego Superior Court Staff and have questions about a submitted application, please contact SBCS at 619-271-1805.  Please note that SBCS will need to verify the identity of the caller before providing any information about an ERAP application.   SBCS thanks the City of Chula Vista and all of the partner organizations who collaborated on this program to reach families in need and help them apply for and receive assistance from this program.

The City of Chula Vista’s Emergency Rental Assistance Program (ERAP) helped eligible households in the City of Chula Vista who have been financially impacted due to the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic. The program provided payment assistance for renters who needed help with rent and utilities. The City of Chula Vista received funds from the United States Department of Treasury (federal award numbers ERA01031, ERAE0061, ERAE0307) and the State of California Department of Housing and Community Development. The program is being administered by SBCS.

      Hi Teree,

When you created your account with your email address, you should have received an email with a confirmation link. Could you please confirm if you clicked that link?

If you are still experiencing issues after trying that, please call 619-271-1805 and someone from our team will further assist.

So it is normal to not see any of my resident’s name show up on my dashboard after they’ve applied? I’ll have to wait several weeks before any names show up?

Is it normal to still not see any of my residents show up on the landlord portal? I have about 15 residents who have applied but none of them show up on my end.

As a landlord, If we don’t create our account, upload our W9, and complete our portion of the application for them, then the tenant may still be approved, but only for a 25% total vs. 80%. Can you confirm that this won’t be an issue and that we will be able to complete our portion in a timely manner? We are concerned because the City of San Diego applicants have been able to have the landlord portions completed

          Hi Chad,

Landlords will have the opportunity to complete their portion of the application in a timely manner. However, you can get ahead of the process by proactively creating your account and uploading required documents. If this is done, then SBCS will link the landlord and tenant applications once we begin processing applications and so long as both are complete, the application will be ready for consideration.

Hello… I am grateful for the possbility of help. I have had to sacrifice other things to avoid issues with my landlord, so I have not had to worry about evictions to this point… But now I have run out of wiggle room and find myself having to make tough decisions… When will those of us who have applied for “Future Help” get a answer or indication we may be approved..? I applied on 3-15 and have yet to get any updates… Thank you…!
